Beth joined Pitt, McGehee, Mirer, Palmer and Rivers in October 2001 and became a partner in June 2005. For over twenty-five years, she has exclusively represented plaintiffs in employment discrimination and civil rights. After completing her undergraduate studies at Rutgers University, where she majored in American History, Beth migrated to the Midwest and attended the University of Detroit School of Law, from which she graduated in 1980.

While in law school, Beth worked as a law clerk for Wayne County Neighborhood Legal Services. Her interest in employment law was first piqued when she worked for prominent labor and employment attorney, Ron Reosti. As a law clerk and later as an attorney with Reosti and Papakhian, Beth was actively involved in a major gender discrimination class action lawsuit against the Automobile Club of Michigan. During this time, Beth was also able to work on public interest litigation protecting ballot access for political parties, preventing the use of public eminent domain rights for private purposes such as building an automobile assembly plant and providing access to publicly funded fertility services for all women regardless of marital status.

From 1983 until October 2001, Beth worked with other small firms in which she continued to specialize in plaintiff’s employment law as an attorney and partner. She successfully represented plaintiffs in individual, group and class actions in Michigan and throughout the country. During her legal career, Beth has emphasized her skills in research and writing. She has successfully argued many cases before the state and federal appellate courts, including the first two decisions interpreting the Older Workers Benefit Protection Act in the Sixth Circuit. Beth also wrote the brief for the New Jersey Supreme Court in the Woolley case, which held that promises in employment handbooks were enforceable.

Beth’s expertise remains legal research, writing, and multi-plaintiff litigation. She has also authored several chapters on age discrimination law in state and national publications.

Beth belongs to various professional and social organizations. She is presently a member of the Michigan Trial Lawyers Association, the National Employment Lawyers Association, and the American Civil Liberties Union. She is a former treasurer/board member of the Women’s Justice Center and the National Lawyers Guild (Detroit Chapter). Beth also remains active in community and social organizations such as Planned Parenthood, Affirmations and Lambda Legal.

In her spare time, Beth enjoys sports, travel, politics, and movies. She and her partner, Connie, have one daughter.
