Cary S. McGehee Royal Oak, Michigan
Cary has practiced law for over 15 years exclusively representing plaintiffs in the area of civil rights, employment and personal injury litigation. She was a founding partner of the law firm of Pitt, McGehee, Palmer, Rivers and Golden P.C. in 1992. She is a current member of Michigan Association for Justice's Employment Law Committee, Advisory Board of the American Civil Liberties Union, Board of Directors of the Michigan Coalition for Human Rights, the American Bar Association/Equal Employment Opportunity Liaison Committee, the National Employment Law Association and Pitt, McGehee, Palmer, Rivers & Golden's Community Service Committee. She previously served on the Executive Board of the Michigan Association for Justices, the ACLU's Detriot Board of Directors and the Board of Trustees of the Michigan Interfaith Trust Fund whose mission is to foster economic and social justice by providing loans and technical assistance for economic development and affordable housing throughout Michigan. She is listed in the current edition of Best Lawyers in America and has received the highest rating posssible, "AV", form Mardindale-Hubbell's peer review national Legal Directory; and since 2006 has been rated as one of the top employment lawyers in Michigan in "Michigan Super Lawyer". Cary graduated from Bowling Green University where she received an athletic scholarship to play Women''s Varsity Basketball. In her senior year she was selected as Most Valuable Player by her teammates and selected to the All Mid-American Conference Team. She was also a member of the Pre-Law Society and a college radio disc-jockey. Following college, Cary played women''s professional basketball for the Women''s American Basketball Association as a team member on the Dallas Diamond National Championship Team. Cary is a frequent lecturer at seminars conducted by the Institute for Continuing Education and the Michigan Association for Justice. She continues to be an avid participant in sports and is currently a Division I NCAA Women''s Basketball Official officiating games in the Mid-American Conference, Horizon League and Mid-Continent Conference. In 2002, she was selected by the NCAA to officiate in the NCAA National Tournament. Cary is married to Michael Smith, who is a sports administrator. |
